The Show
The University of Exeter, Homerton College and HATS present: Simultaneous Shakespeare: The Two Gentlemen of Verona.
Two casts. Two cities. One play. Simultaneously.
Cambridge and Exeter are playing host to an original and exciting Shakespeare experience.
Shakespeare's underperformed comedy 'The Two Gentlemen of Verona' will be staged in both these cities on Saturday November 26th. The performances will bring the curtain up and down at the same time, and allow audiences, actors and crew to feel part of a theatre experience crossing 200 miles.
Valentine is in love with Silvia, his close friend Proteus is in love with Julia, until he meets Silvia. Valentine is banished from Silvia's side, leaving the way clear for Proteus, but Julia is closer than he thinks...
Showcasing all that is great about Shakespearean comedy: cross-dressing, banishment, love in many forms and two witty fools. This is 'The Two Gentlemen of Verona' simultaneously.

Charities
Simultaneous Shakespeare will be supporting the East Anglia's Children's Hospice and the Children's Hospice South West. These charities provide support to families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions. There will be a retiring collection for each charity in their respective venues.
East Anglia's Children's Hospice
We support children and their families with the challenges that having a life-threatening condition can often bring. Services may be provided in the family home, the community or the hospice.
The range of services include:
- Day care in the family home, hospice, or both.
- Overnight breaks in the hospice.
- Support for parents, siblings, grandparents and others close to the child.
- 24 hour telephone support and advice.
- Therapies - music, physio, occupational and specialist play.
- Family information service.
- End of life care in the family home or the hospice depending on family preference.
- Annual Memory Days and ongoing support for bereaved families.
Children's Hospice South West
At Children's Hospice South West we care for children who have illnesses which mean they will die before reaching adulthood. We provide expert care for them, their parents and siblings. We are the only organisation in the South West to provide such care.
Some families may use the hospice for many years. Children may come for planned short breaks, emergency care or end of life care, and will usually be accompanied by family members. The whole family can stay at our hospices, and with a dedicated sibling support service available, this means that the well brothers and sisters can be cared for during their visit and enjoy spending time with other children in similar situations to their own. The support we give extends to the whole family, into bereavement and beyond for as long as each family needs us.
With over 1,000 life-limited children across the South West, our support for families is absolutely vital.
